Doug Bechanan

Mr. Bechanan joins Compass Municipal Advisors as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.
Mr. Bechanan brings 35 years of distinguished experience in public education, having dedicated his career to Nicholas County Schools. During that time, he served eight years as Superintendent and an additional 19 years in district-level administrative leadership. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to educational excellence, leadership, and advocacy. His contributions have been recognized through numerous leadership awards and professional honors, reflecting the respect he has earned from colleagues and organizations across Kentucky.
In addition to his district leadership roles, Mr. Bechanan has served on the executive boards of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA) and the Kentucky Educational Development Cooperative (KEDC), as well as on the Kentucky Commissioner of Education's Superintendents' Advisory Council. He has been an active leader in numerous educational advocacy initiatives, including KASA's Coalition to Sustain the Education Profession and its Legislative Advocacy Teams.
As both an administrator and superintendent, Mr. Bechanan has been a trusted mentor to aspiring and current superintendents and principals across the Commonwealth. During his tenure, he has worked to develop visions for educational excellence, leading numerous facility planning, renovation, construction, and funding initiatives.
